I've got a couple starting lineups and mcfarlanes, but not collecting. Are you looking or trading?

I was a collector, but since their demise I now collect McFarlane figures. I have several listed in my website storefront. I have boxes of them, all in NM-Mint condition. I've taken very good care of them. They are not yellowed and the price stickers were carefully removed if purchased individually. The card backs aren't bent or frayed.

The market for them is VERY soft. I haven't sold one in over 4 years as most collectors have taken to the more realistic McFarlane figures. Tuff Stuff has partial pricing at times, but forget about getting anywhere near book value. I really hated to see them go, but I do like McFarlane. The fact they also produce non-sports figures is a plus as well. I have 3 different Jimi Hendrix figures, including a 2003 limited edition Woodstock Super Stage diorama with scaffolding, guitar, amplifier stacks, mic w/stand, effects pedals and more. Originally priced at $20, it now sells in the $150-$175 range.

Getting back to Starting Lineup figures, one of my favorites is the 1998 Classic Doubles Y.A. Tittle and Sam Huff. I was born and raised near Morgantown, WV. Sam Huff played at WVU and is enshrined in the NFL Hall of Fame. Also having a throwback mini helmet signed by both players, it makes an excellent display.

I have well over 100 SLU's, including an unsearched 1999 case which includes the Randy Moss rookie (Tuff Stuff-$24)figures. If anyone is interested, please contact me.

I can remember the "thrill of the hunt" for SLU's when they were hot. Living in Kansas City at the time, I remember a Sunday newspaper ad listed them on sale at a local department store. When I arrived at 11:30 am waiting for the doors to open at noon, there were several cars with older men (dealers) waiting in their cars as well. More came as I waited. No kids, just men 30+ years old. When the doors finally opened, I was nearly knocked to the floor in the stampede which I found myself in the middle of. By the time I got to the SLU section, it was mayhem. Grabbing, pushing, shoving. I stepped back and couldn't believe what was happening! Finally, when they had nearly picked the shelves bare, I found bat.gif an '89 George Brett and Bo Jackson rookie piece on an end cap where no one had seen! I was happy to get them, but after seeing grown men acting like children, it took some of the fun out of it. I still hunted, but it just wasn't the same.

Sorry if I rambled. Talking sports memorabilia is a favorite thing to do.

Again, contact me or visit my storefront if you want to buy or just browse. I have several not listed. I'd like to get rid of most of them. (My wife would like me to as well!)

Kevin
